So tonight I will be meeting with a few others from the Rotaract Club to pack up all the donations we'll be bringing with us on our trip to San Pedro Sula, Honduras next week. The other Rotaract students and I will be taking this trip with our Rotaract Club advisor, his wife, and several Rotarians from a local club including a couple business professionals, doctors, a lawyer, and a priest.
I'm really excited, as it's going to be second trip to a Central American country, my second international service project and my second trip out of the country since being in college.
I am so looking forward to this experience... to being able to see the transformation of an old building into a two room "kinder". One evening we'll be throwing a pizza party at a girl's orphanage. Our last day in Honduras will be a medical mission and our group is going to do a dental hygiene clinic. Another evening we'll attend a local Rotary meeting. It's been interesting to me, to see the slight variations in the general "culture" of clubs in different cities, states, and now I'll be able to witness different countries, but wherever in the world - the purpose and the mission remains the same.
I'll post updates of the trip as I can.
Till then, tonight is about preparing ourselves mentally and about packing the donations physically. All the while, being able to enjoy the prep time with new friends, mentors, and role models.
